PROGRESS REPORT AFFILIATION SHOOTING DAY 3

Today we wrapped up scene 3 and 4, thus ending the filming of the main narrative, we wrote an end credits scene but it was only added in last minute as a fun idea to potentially extend the storyline if we could make it possible. There were a lot of things that we did today and it was by far the longest day of filming we've had, I estimated the shooting day to be only 7 hours start to finish but in reality, it was a 12 hour work day. We arrived on set at 9 and we were set up for 10, the filming of scene 3 took 4.5 hours and we didn't have a break till around 3 hours into it, I was more than pleased with the effort of my work my cast and crew put into today. Instead of letting the tiredness get the better of them they all strived forward and even at around one point of the day I was instigating the idea of leaving the rest of filming for another time but the crew motivated me to push through in moments where even I was struggling to keep my morale up.

I put forward an idea at the beginning of the day, it came from the fact that I was sick of changing the camera back and forth from shot to shot and filming each shot in a sequencing order. So I decided to film all the shots from one camera angle at once and go through them each at a time, this ended up being extremely productive and in the space of time that it would have taken us to film 5 shots we were able to film 12.
Another great thing about this was that once a shot was set up with the correct ISO, focus and all other necessary settings there was no need to have to change them back and forth as we did every shot from that angle. This ended up saving the most time plus moving the camera every shot, along with the lighting and sound equipment did reduce the amount of work we were getting done.

It was also really helpful that we decided to bring the script and storyboard on set every day as this helped us keep track of what we were doing, especially since we were undergoing a new way of filming, something completely different to what the rest of the crew had made themselves familiar with in the past shooting days.
So instead of filming shot 1, 2, 3, 4 and changing the ISO to fit each different one even if shot 1 and 4 were the same it would mean having to set it all back up in the exact spot so we decided to film shot 1, 4, 6, 8 then 12 because they were, all the same, ticking them off as we go to keep track of them.
This is one of the most experimental things we did in my opinion, as the others days of filming we did not do this and none of us has ever filmed like this before so it was completely new to all of us but we tried it, did it and gave it our best and through us all stepping out of our film making comfort zone, our production ended up being better than any other day.
